It is an <strong>objective criterion<\/strong> that classifies the activities necessary for the technical control of road efficiency, based on their importance or urgency, and defines a priority index for interventions in the context of optimising available resources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Through ARES and its <strong>specific WebApp<\/strong>, it is possible to equip oneself with a system for the integrated management of restraint systems capable of identifying real critical issues and assessing the priorities of interventions, based on the <strong>maintenance status of the device<\/strong>, the <strong>characteristics of the support<\/strong> and the <strong>surrounding conditions<\/strong>, ensuring the overall safety of the infrastructure and minimising resources and costs.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1201\" height=\"286\" src=\"https:\/\/www.aisico.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/ares_logo.png?v=1736767794\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6585\" style=\"width:416px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.aisico.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/ares_logo.png 1201w, https:\/\/www.aisico.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/ares_logo-768x183.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1201px) 100vw, 1201px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text is-stacked-on-mobile\" style=\"grid-template-columns:40% auto\"><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"375\" height=\"368\" src=\"https:\/\/www.aisico.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/PI.png?v=1768209751\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-13386 size-full\"\/><\/figure><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p>The objective of ARES is to <strong>determine a priority index for safety barrier<\/strong> adaptation measures, based on the intrinsic characteristics of the device, its state of maintenance, the characteristics of the support and the surrounding conditions, which characterise the <em>Functioning Index<\/em>.<br>For all devices whose <em>Functionality Index<\/em> is below a predefined acceptability value, adaptation measures must be planned in order to guarantee containment capacity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For all sections requiring adaptation measures, the priority of intervention is defined taking into account additional parameters such as the location of the device, its intended use, traffic, the regulatory context and cost.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To assess each of these characteristics, specific \u2018accessory indices\u2019 were used, correlated with each other according to coefficients that appropriately weigh their relative influence.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text is-stacked-on-mobile\" style=\"grid-template-columns:40% auto\"><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1600\" height=\"1066\" src=\"https:\/\/www.aisico.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/MOMAS.jpg?v=1763030846\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-13283 size-full\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.aisico.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/MOMAS.jpg 1600w, https:\/\/www.aisico.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/MOMAS-1013x675.jpg 1013w, https:\/\/www.aisico.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/MOMAS-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.aisico.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/MOMAS-1536x1023.jpg 1536w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1600px) 100vw, 1600px\" \/><\/figure><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p>Through the survey carried out with a High Performance vehicle, it is possible to define homogeneous sections and identify and register road restraint devices.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>ASSURE<\/strong> the status of the restraint devices installed throughout the network, identify the different types and their respective characteristics, including geometric ones<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>ASSESS <\/strong>the geometric conditions of the support<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>KNOW <\/strong>the boundary conditions of each device<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>On-site testing allows for the mechanical characterisation of supports in order to determine the behaviour of safety devices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By performing dynamic tests, it is possible to determine the characteristics of the ground and its interaction with the device&#8217;s upright at the moment of impact. If the Functioning Index falls below a predefined limit value, corrective measures must be taken.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"293\" height=\"201\" src=\"https:\/\/www.aisico.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/FI.png?v=1768209802\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-13391\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>The actual containment capacity depends on:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Maintenance index <strong>Im<\/strong>: intrinsic capacity of the device depending on its condition.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Support index <strong>Is<\/strong>: mechanical characteristics of the support in situ, compared to the characteristics of the support on which the device was crash tested.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Installation index <strong>Ii<\/strong>: grips within critical deformation spaces such as obstacles.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>For each index, the decay of the device&#8217;s containment energy is evaluated in relation to optimal conditions.
