BeSafe

BeSafe is AISICO's new integrated platform for managing and evaluating the security of an artwork

BeSafe is AISICO’s new integrated platform for managing and accessing the safety of a work of art.

The BeSafe platform can integrate and manage all the information and innovative technologies necessary for the verification of the safety and monitoring of infrastructures, starting from the survey through to predictive analysis..

BeSafe is not only a Bridge Management System, with which to display the information related to the census and inspection of infrastructures in accordance with LL.GG.22, but also a tool capable of objectively and automatically assessing the state of degradation and the residual useful life of the inspected works.

Using the BeSafe platform, it is possible to manage the complete digitisation of the works through continuous monitoring, artificial intelligence, Digital Twin, FEM, BIM and 3D.

The BeSafe integrated platform allows with a single ‘management software’ to:
– Have at your disposal a BMS
– Collect the census sheets for bridges and viaducts and all the documentation necessary for understanding the state of deterioration of the structure (e.g. defect sheets, surveys, VAL3, VAL4) in accordance with LL.GG.22
– Identify and catalogue surface defects using artificial intelligence software
– Visualize detailed photographic cataloguing
– Carry out automated calculation of BODs in accordance with LL.GG.22
– Calculate the Weighted Degradation Index to establish intervention priorities
Archive all technical administrative documentation relating to the structure under management
– Manage the Digital Twin 3D
– Manage the Digital Twin BIM
– Manage the Digital Twin FEM
– Manage loT sensors
– Obtain predictive analysis of structure behaviour
– Estimate the remaining useful life of the structure
– Assess structural intervention priorities

BMS – Bridge Management System

The BeSafe platform integrates within itself a real Bridge Management System containing all information relating to the census of bridges and viaducts, including the compilation of the level 0 census sheets required by the LL.G.22.
For each bridge, all information relating to inspections, digital models (3D – BIM – FEM), level 1 defect cards, CdAs, information relating to sensors and everything else necessary for knowledge of the state of deterioration of the bridge examined is available directly through a dedicated menu.

Photographic cataloguing

Through BeSafe, for each bridge inspected, it is possible to view the detailed photographic cataloguing of the individual structural parts and defects found.
The photographic cataloguing is subdivided by structural elements and by inspection date.
In this way it is possible to compare the state of defects at different times..

Archiving and calculaton of BoDs

The BeSafe platform makes it possible to archive all the information necessary for the estimation of CDAs, in accordance with LL.GG. 22.
Once the boxes for the necessary information have been populated, BeSafe is able to automatically estimate the value of individual CoAs and the overall CoA.
BeSafe also makes it possible to store and display both the forms required by LL.GG.22 and the technical reports for estimating individual BoDs and the overall BoD.

Digital TWIN 3D

Thanks to the use of drones and an accurate topographical survey during visual inspections, AISICO creates the 3D digital twin model, which can be measured and remotely navigated in all its structural elements, in order to verify their real degradation conditions to decide whether or not to install a loT network of intelligent sensors and monitor the evolution over time (dynamic monitoring).
The 3D digital twin model allows to remotely verify the real conditions of degradation of the structure, and the evolution of the defects over time through a simple comparison of its images.

The BeSafe platform allows the digital twin model of the work being inspected to be viewed and interrogated without the need for additional software or to leave the BMS.
The 3D digital twin model allows you to:

Inspect the work remotely to visually assess its state of degradation.
Compare over time the evolution of the defects that have been most severely damaged.
Extrapolate detailed photographs of the various structural parts and defects found.
Highlight defects through georeferenced markers subdivided by type and location directly on the work.

Artificial intelligence

AISICO has developed and uses software for the automatic identification, cataloguing and evaluation of defects (ADD_B® – Auto Defect Detection Bridge), based on artificial intelligence techniques.
By investigating photos and orthophotos extrapolated from the digital twin model, the software can identify defects by type, position and extent, guaranteeing:
Speed in expeditious visual inspection.
Support for the bridge inspector.
Accuracy and objectivity in terms of defect classification.
– Accuracy and objectivity of the result in terms of position and type.
– Accuracy and objectivity due to automatic calculation of defect extent.
– Output easily readable even by a non-specialized operator (EXCEL file).
– Automated dialogue with BIM archiving system.

Digital TWIN BIM

The BeSAfe platform allows the BIM model of the inspected structure to be viewed and interrogated without the need to leave the platform.
Within the BIM model it is possible to store all information relating to the type of structure, geometry and any defects found.
The BIM model is also used to graphically highlight the Weighted Degradation Index.
The IDP, devised by AISICO, is defined as the summation of the importance coefficient of each defect G present in the quadrant, a function of the defect extension factors K1 and the defect intensity factor K2, multiplied by a coefficient that evaluates the structural importance of the quadrant within the span, to weight the result.
The value of the IDP makes it possible to establish an intervention priority, objectively assessing the parts of the structure that are most degraded.

Digital TWIN FEM

The BeSAfe platform allows the FEM model of the work being inspected to be viewed and interrogated without the need to leave the platform.
The FEM model represents a valuable tool for the calculation of the residual useful life of the infrastructure, through safety assessments level 4, in accordance with LL.GG.22.
Through the interaction between the FEM model and the ioT sensors, strategically designed by type and position, the static behavior of the structure can be ‘calibrated’ and linked to the real one, to identify new alarm thresholds and anticipate possible collapses or anomalous and dangerous behavior for users.

Continuos monitoring – IOT sensor

The BeSafe platform enables continuous monitoring of the infrastructure under management.
In fact, within BeSafe there is an application capable of identifying for each work the sensors by position type and checking their operating status. The BeSafe platform itself allows the interrogation of the various sensors, the display of recorded data and any alarm signals.Through the BeSafe platform, it is therefore possible to analyze the real-time behavior of the structure, to store and compare historical data and to evaluate the peaks of oscillation, vibration, stability and deformation of the spans, rotations and oscillations of the piers, as well as to analyze the joint behavior through vertical and horizontal displacements, rotations and temperature.

Predictive analysys

The BeSafe platform allows Model Updating of the Digital Twin FEM on a statistical basis, studying the structural response measured by continuous monitoring data.
In addition, using sophisticated artificial intelligence models developed ad hoc, in conjunction with the calibrated Digital Twin FEM, BeSafe enables the remaining useful life of the monitored structure to be estimated and structural intervention priorities to be identified, to ensure the safety of the structure

The European Innovation Council in June 2022 awarded the BeSafe solution the Seal of Excellence.
